Computers these days are not limited to just Desktop hardware but can be carried around at all times in the form of laptops, tablets and smartphones. Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 8, also comes with functionally to work with all types of devices like Tablet, Laptop, Ultrabook and Desktop PC. The computer is not a single piece of hardware but rather a combination of several hardware parts that come together to create a working computer. In addition to several hardware devices, the computer also needs suitable software to function. Windows 8 has a built-in System Information tool that can show you the full details of your computer including hardware and software information but it falls short if you want to get detailed and advanced information.

This time around, I am going to review a Windows 8 App called System Essentials which offers both hardware and software configuration of any tablet, Ultrabook, notebook or desktop PCs. This app also shows the information about all the sensors working in your device. The application is quite useful for people using Windows 8 RTM version as it has limited resources to know the hardware configuration.
The System Essentials app has a number of small tools that can help you get all the information you need about your device. For example, you can use Windows Information center to check the basic information of your device. Similarly, Windows Control Center helps you to personalize the system and Center Network Connections will provide information about the current connection to the Internet and on their subscription plan. You can save all the detailed information as a text file for any further use as this app supports exporting information as text file too.
System Essentials is an awesome app but they could make it smarter by adding some more extra features like a Battery information tool and a Live Tile option to show full battery details. Overall, System Essentials works well and is a convenient tool for creating a basic report of your device.
